Texas Instruments supports High-availability Seamless Redundancy (HSR) and Parallel Redundancy Protocol (PRP) for real-time networking applications requiring high reliability of critical traffic. These protocols provide redundancy in smart grid substations where fast and fault tolerant communication is a key requirement. Sitara microprocessors provides Linux and RTOS HSR/PRP solutions for AM64x/AM243x devices using the PRU_ICSSG subsystem. Using the PRU_ICSSG subsystem enables offloading key HSR/PRP functions, resulting in decreased CPU load and fowarding latency.
