    Hello team,

I’m experiencing an issue while configuring the plugin, specifically in the “Cookiedatabase.org” tab. The following message appears:

    Something went wrong.
    Could not load field cookiedatabase_sync.

Additionally, there is a “Try again” button, but clicking it does nothing.

I also noticed that the plugin scan has been stuck at 88% for hours.

    What I’ve already tried:

    • I waited a few hours to see if it was a temporary issue.
    • I downloaded the latest version of Complianz.

Even after these steps, the error persists.

    My site information:

    • WordPress version: 6.9.4
    • Complianz version: 7.4.5
    • Active plugins (besides Complianz):
      • Advanced Custom Fields Multilingual
      • All-in-One WP Migration and Backup
      • Complianz | Cookie Consent for GDPR/CCPA
      • Disable Comments RB
      • Classic Editor
      • Favicon by RealFaviconGenerator
      • WordPress Importer
      • Independent Analytics
      • Safe SVG
      • Secure Custom Fields
      • WPML String Translation
      • WPML Multilingual CMS
      • WPML SEO
      • Yoast SEO

    Observations:
The “Try again” button does not seem to perform any action. I’ve already checked the browser console and there are no JavaScript errors.

Can you help me identify what might be causing this error? Thank you in advance!

    Hi @wesleysilvairon ,

Thank you for reaching out and for the detailed report.

I am sorry to hear you are experiencing this issue. This type of error is usually related to the cookiedatabase.com server. I have already raised this internally and we will look into it to prevent any further occurrences.

Could you please let us know if the issue is still appearing? If so, it would be very helpful if you could try clearing your cache and attempting the sync again.

We will keep you updated as soon as we have more information.

    Best regards,
    Antonio

Exactly the same happening here since last week.

    Yes, the error persists.

I removed the plugin and reinstalled it. I noticed that when loading the Terms and Conditions information, the error “An error occurred while downloading the document. Try again!” occurs.

The same thing happens in the “Get tips and tricks” popup: “An error occurred while downloading the document. Try again!”

What could this mean? Is it related to the cookiedatabase problem? I also reinstalled the plugin to a previous version and the errors persisted; the version was 7.4.3.

Having the same issue on a client’s website.

Hi all — jumping in as we’re seeing the same issue affecting multiple websites that we are trying to set up Complianz for the first time on.

    • Same error:
      “Could not load field cookiedatabase_sync”
    • “Try again” does nothing

We see a JS error on our end:

TypeError: e.map is not a function

This is coming from the Complianz React bundle when rendering the field.Interpretation

Is there a known issue where the Cookiedatabase sync response can return a non-array value (or malformed structure), causing the React field to fail like this?

If helpful, I can provide the full request/response payloads from the sync process.

We’re seeing this on multiple sites. Hope we get a solution soon, as we’re unable to take any websites live with compliance until this resolved. I’ll be camped out waiting for the update ⛺

Still an error for me as well. For the time being I’m using WP Consent, but also looking into CookieYes for longer term solution.

    Hello,
We went through the process of ensuring that CF is not blocking the site on our end from pulling the cookiedatabase.org sync and this is what we found.

    [y7xlofo@dal03 complianz-gdpr-premium]$ curl -I -s https://cookiedatabase.org/wp-json/cookiedatbase/ HTTP/2 403 date: Wed, 25 Mar 2026 16:17:57 GMT content-type: text/html; charset=UTF-8 accept-ch: Sec-CH-UA-Bitness, Sec-CH-UA-Arch, Sec-CH-UA-Full-Version, Sec-CH-UA-Mobile, Sec-CH-UA-Model, Sec-CH-UA-Platform-Version, Sec-CH-UA-Full-Version-List, Sec-CH-UA-Platform, Sec-CH-UA, UA-Bitness, UA-Arch, UA-Full-Version, UA-Mobile, UA-Model, UA-Platform-Version, UA-Platform, UA cf-mitigated: challenge

The last line indicates that Cloudflare on the cookiedatabase.org side of things is an issue.

cookiedatabase.org has their Managed Challenge enabled. That may be blocking the sync from working.

    Hi everyone,

Thank you all for your patience and for the detailed reports, they were very helpful in identifying the root cause.

The issue was caused by an unusually high number of requests to cookiedatabase.org, which triggered Cloudflare’s WAF and blocked the sync. This has now been restored and should be working correctly again.

Could you please try again on your end and let us know if the issue persists? If you are still experiencing any problems, please do not hesitate to report back here and we will look into it further ASAP.

Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.
