According to the National Development and Reform Commission, to respond to the impact of international crude oil price fluctuations, from 24:00 on April 7, domestic maximum retail prices for gasoline and diesel (standard products) have been officially increased, with gasoline up 420 yuan per ton and diesel up 400 yuan per ton.During this price adjustment, the state continued to adopt price control measures, effectively mitigating the impact of rising international oil prices on the domestic market and consumers.

It is reported that since the domestic refined oil price adjustment on March 23, international crude oil prices have shown large volatility. According to the current domestic refined oil price formation mechanism, the maximum retail prices for gasoline and diesel should have been raised by 800 yuan/ton and 770 yuan/ton respectively. To effectively reduce the pressure from rising international oil prices and to ensure stable domestic economic operation and people’s livelihoods, the state decisively implemented price controls; after control, the maximum retail prices for gasoline and diesel rose by 380 yuan/ton and 370 yuan/ton less, respectively.

Converted to per‑liter prices, after this control 92‑octane gasoline rises 0.31 yuan less per liter and 0‑grade diesel rises 0.32 yuan less per liter, effectively lowering consumers' vehicle operating costs and easing cost pressure for downstream sectors such as logistics and agricultural production. Domestic refined oil price adjustments strictly follow the “ the mechanism of adjusting once every 10 working days ”; this control both takes market rules into account and fully reflects the state's orientation to protect livelihoods and stabilize the market.

A relevant official from the National Development and Reform Commission stated that they will continue to monitor international crude oil price trends, strictly adjust domestic refined oil prices according to the current pricing mechanism, and flexibly use control measures based on market changes to ensure stable supply in the refined oil market and effectively safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of consumers and related industries.

Below is a comparison table of national average retail prices before and after this adjustment for domestic 92, 95, 98 gasoline and 0 diesel (unit: yuan/liter):

Product type
National average price before adjustment
This adjustment magnitude (per liter)
National average price after adjustment
92‑octane gasoline
8.55
+0.32 (actual increase after control)
8.87
95‑octane gasoline
9.10
+0.34 (actual increase after control)
9.44
98‑octane gasoline
9.98
+0.38 (actual increase after control)
10.36
0‑grade diesel
8.22
+0.30 (actual increase after control)
8.52

Note: 1. The above prices are national average retail prices; actual prices may vary slightly across regions due to differences in transportation costs, taxes, etc., with fluctuations not exceeding 0.05 yuan/liter; 2. Adjustment magnitudes were converted from the announced per‑ton amounts by the NDRC using fuel densities, with the magnitudes for 95 and 98 gasoline reasonably estimated based on the proportion for 92 gasoline to ensure consistency with market realities.
