Japan announced thatit will begin releasing additional oil reserves in early May,sufficient for about 20 days of use. Japan's Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Sanae Takaichi, told reporters in Tokyo thatthe second batch of reserve oil is expected to be gradually released into the market starting in early May.

She also noted that Japan's overall oil reserves are currently adequate, but market concerns about disruptions to oil supplies persist, and this additional release aims to stabilize supply expectations.
