According to Iran News TV on April 12, an Iranian senior energy official told the station in an interview that, following joint strikes by the United States and Israel on Iran's oil infrastructure, related reconstruction work has officially begun, with the core objective being torestore 80% of damaged oil production capacity to pre-attack levels within the next two months;and tominimize the strike's impact on Iran's energy exports and domestic economy.

The official did not disclose the exact locations or extent of the damaged infrastructure but stressed that the strikes primarily targeted certain oilfields, oil pipelines and refining facilities in southern Iran, causing some short-term disruption to Iran's oil extraction, processing and export operations and temporarily suspending parts of production. He also said Iran's energy sector had long prepared contingency plans for sudden attacks and has stocked sufficient repair equipment, spare parts and professional technical teams, laying the foundation for rapid reconstruction.

It is reported that, as one of the world’s major oil exporters, Iran’s oil industry is a core pillar of its national economy, and oil export revenues constitute an important proportion of the country’s fiscal income. The US and Israeli strikes are viewed externally as precision pressure on Iran’s energy industry, attempting to weaken Iran’s economic strength and regional influence by damaging its oil production capacity.

Regarding the reconstruction work, the senior official said Iran has formed a special reconstruction task force that integrates the country’s top technical resources in the energy sector and is coordinating with relevant companies to establish green lanes that prioritize transportation and supply of reconstruction materials. In addition, Iran will strengthen security protection of oil infrastructure and deploy more comprehensive prevention and control systems to guard against possible follow-up attacks, ensuring stability of oil production and exports.

Industry analysts noted that if Iran can achieve its goal of restoring 80% of capacity within two months as scheduled, it will help ease supply volatility in the international energy market and assist Iran in gradually recouping economic losses. Currently, the international community is closely watching the damage to Iran’s oil infrastructure and reconstruction progress; some energy-importing countries have been in contact with Iran to confirm subsequent energy supply cooperation.

According to additional comments from sources at Iran’s Ministry of Petroleum, the reconstruction effort will not only focus on capacity restoration but will also advance simultaneous upgrades to infrastructure, introduce more advanced production technologies to improve oil extraction and processing efficiency, and strengthen the resilience of Iran’s oil industry to risks, providing guarantees for long-term stable development.
