A fire broke out late on April 15 local time at Viva Energy Group's refinery in Geelong, Victoria, Australia; the blaze is still ongoing and there are no reported casualties so far.

The refinery is one of only two remaining domestic refineries in Australiawith a daily refined fuel capacity that can meet 10% of the country's demand. According to Australia's Minister for Climate Change and Energy, Chris Bowen, the fire mainly affected gasoline production, while diesel and aviation fuel units remain in operation.

Against the backdrop of ongoing Middle East tensions disrupting global crude and refined fuel supplies, this incident has further heightened concerns in Australia about the stability of domestic fuel supply.
