On May 19, the National Energy Administration released data such as total electricity consumption for April.
In April, total electricity consumption was 820.5 billion kWh, a year-on-year increase of 6.0%. Looking at electricity consumption by sector, the primary industry consumed 11.2 billion kWh, up 2.0% year-on-year. The secondary industry consumed 558.4 billion kWh, up 5.3%; of this, industrial electricity consumption was 553.8 billion kWh, up 5.5%, and electricity consumption in high-tech equipment manufacturing was 105.0 billion kWh, up 10.1%. The tertiary industry consumed 151.7 billion kWh, up 8.9%; of this, electricity consumption in the battery swapping and charging services and internet data services sectors was 13.7 billion kWh and 8.2 billion kWh respectively, with growth rates of 61.9% and 42.8%. Electricity consumption for urban and rural residents was 99.2 billion kWh, up 6.0% year-on-year.
From January to April, cumulative total electricity consumption was 3,334.5 billion kWh, a year-on-year increase of 5.4%. Looking at electricity consumption by sector, the primary industry consumed 44.9 billion kWh, up 5.8% year-on-year. The secondary industry consumed 2,156.9 billion kWh, up 4.9%; of this, industrial electricity consumption was 2,137.2 billion kWh, up 5.1%, and electricity consumption in high-tech and equipment manufacturing was 379.6 billion kWh, up 9.0%. The tertiary industry consumed 635.1 billion kWh, up 8.3%; of this, electricity consumption in the battery swapping and charging services and internet data services sectors was 51.3 billion kWh and 31.2 billion kWh respectively, with growth rates of 55.9% and 44.4%. Electricity consumption for urban and rural residents was 497.6 billion kWh, up 3.9% year-on-year.
