25.283 billion! CNS Inner Mongolia's 5 million ton natural soda project starts construction in June
Recently, CNSIC Chemical Industry disclosed the construction plan for a large-scale natural alkali project in Naiman Banner, Tongliao, Inner Mongolia. The project has a total investment of 25.283 billion yuan, with a planned total capacity equivalent to 5 million tons/year of soda ash, including supporting capacity of 200,000 tons/year of baking soda. The construction period is 24 months, following a schedule of production startup in two years and reaching full capacity in three years.
The project products are divided into five dedicated production lines: three heavy soda ash production lines with a single-line capacity of 1.2 million tons/year, totaling 3.6 million tons/year; one food-grade light soda ash production line with a capacity of 1.2 million tons/year, focusing on the high-end food raw material market; plus one baking soda production line with a capacity of 200,000 tons/year. Prior to the project's launch, the company had already secured mining rights for 1.447 billion tons of local natural alkali in June 2025, ensuring ample resource reserves.
The project is implemented by CNSIC (Inner Mongolia) Alkali Industry Co., Ltd., a 51%-owned subsidiary of CNSIC Chemical Industry. In April 2026, solution mining tests were successfully completed, and all preliminary technical preparations were finalized. According to the construction timeline, the project is scheduled to officially commence construction in June 2026 and is expected to be completed and commissioned in mid-2028.
Relying on high-quality local natural alkali mineral resources, the project will significantly expand the company's soda ash and baking soda capacities upon commissioning, optimize the domestic supply pattern of food-grade soda ash, and further consolidate CNSIC Chemical Industry's leading position in China's natural alkali industry.
