On June 4, Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Handanovic traveled to St. Petersburg, Russia, for a working meeting with Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Management Committee of Gazprom. After the meeting, it was officially confirmed that Serbia's current natural gas purchase agreement with Russia will expire on June 30, and the contract will automatically be extended for three months upon expiration, with the new supply period ending on September 30.

Handanovic noted that this contract extension ensures the continued and stable procurement of cost-effective Russian natural gas for Serbia, which is a key measure for maintaining domestic industrial operations and guaranteeing residential gas consumption. In addition to the gas supply renewal, the two parties reached an agreement on the expansion project of an underground gas storage facility in northern Serbia. The current capacity of this storage facility is 450 million cubic meters, and upon completion of the renovation, the total storage capacity will be expanded to 750 million cubic meters, further strengthening Serbia's natural gas peak-shaving and reserve capabilities.
